Police detained an offender involved in the brutal murder of an acquaintance in Novyi Rozdil
During the conflict, the detainee used a kitchen knife to separate his neighbour’s head from his body, causing him fatal injuries. The offender faces up to fifteen years in prison for his crime.
On 6 December, around midnight, the police received a report that the body of a man with signs of violent death had been found in an apartment in a house on Bandera Street in Novyi Rozdil.
The investigative team of the Police Department No. 2 of the Stryi District Police Department, together with officers of the Investigation Department and the Forensic Laboratory of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv Region, as well as officers of other services of the Police Department No. 1 of the Stryi District Police Department, were working at the scene.
As law enforcement officers established, a conflict suddenly arose between the two neighbours, during which the 44-year-old owner of the apartment used a kitchen knife to separate the 33-year-old guest’s head from his body, which led to his death.
The police detained the offender in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of the territorial police unit opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 115 (Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
