At the checkpoint “Uhryniv”, a dog found drugs in the back of a driver

Not a single gram can be hidden from the keen sense of smell of sniffer dogs of the 7th Carpathian border guard detachment

On the border with Poland, a border guard dog helped to detect a narcotic substance found in the back of a bus.

During the inspection of a bus with Ukrainian registration at the Uhryniv checkpoint, a sniffer dog Khan, trained to search for drugs, sniffed out the back of the seat. The plastic bag contained a cigarette, probably with marijuana.

The border guards informed the National Police about the discovery.

In total, since the beginning of 2024, almost 20 kg of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors have been detected at checkpoints in Lviv region with the help of sniffer dogs. Currently, dogs are the best biological indicator for detecting illegal drugs.

It should be noted that the border guard dog handlers of the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Detachment are constantly working to improve the skills of their dogs. Dogs of six breeds serve in the detachment’s area of responsibility.
