Twenty-year-old man injured in Lviv region as a result of an Audi hit – police are investigating
The car that hit the man was moving in reverse. The victim is currently in the hospital. The driver of the vehicle was detained by law enforcement officers and faces up to eight years in prison.
The road accident occurred on the night of April 28 at around 3:30 a.m. in the village of Dumychi, Lviv district.
As law enforcement officers preliminarily established, a 28-year-old local resident, the driver of an Audi, was driving in reverse and hit his 20-year-old fellow villager. Eyewitnesses called an ambulance to the scene, and the driver fled the scene.
Subsequently, doctors diagnosed the victim with severe injuries, and he is now in intensive care.
As a result of the measures taken, officers of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 identified the driver and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators opened a criminal proceeding over the incident under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
The pre-trial investigation is underway.
