An elderly cyclist was injured in Lviv region as a result of a car accident – police are establishing the circumstances of the incident
The road accident occurred on 2 October, around 21.00, in the village of Lopatyn, Sheptytskyi district.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of an Iveco car, a 57-year-old resident of Khmelnytsky Oblast, hit a cyclist, a 76-year-old local resident.
As a result of the accident, the elderly woman was injured and hospitalised.
Investigators of the territorial police unit opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
