Police detain woman suspected of murdering her husband in Sheptytskyi district

During a domestic conflict, the woman stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife, causing him fatal injuries. She faces up to fifteen years in prison for her crime.

The incident occurred on 22 November at around 16.30 in a village of Sheptytskyi district. According to law enforcement officers, while drinking alcohol, a conflict arose between the couple, during which the 45-year-old attacker stabbed the victim in the stomach with a kitchen knife. The 47-year-old man died at the scene from his injuries.

Criminal police operatives, investigators and officers of other services of the Sheptytskyi District Police Department were involved in solving the murder.

Law enforcement officers detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Sheptytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, served the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 115 (Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided.
