During a sudden conflict, a man severely beat a stranger – Lviv police promptly detained the offender
The victim died at the scene from his injuries. The attacker faces a sentence of imprisonment for up to ten years.
On 25 October, at 12.30 a.m., the police received a report from passers-by about a fight between two men near the railway station in Stryi.
The investigative team, criminal police operatives and crews of the patrol police response sector of the Stryi District Police Department of Lviv Region immediately arrived at the scene.
It was established that a conflict had arisen between a 66-year-old local resident and a 31-year-old resident of a village in Stryi district. During the quarrel, the latter struck the victim several times in the head with his hand. The victim lost consciousness from his injuries and died at the scene.
After the crime, the offender fled. Law enforcers promptly tracked him down using his description and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of the territorial police unit will soon serve the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 2 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect
