A foreigner robbed a bartender in the center of Lviv

In the center of Lviv, the police detained a foreigner on suspicion of committing a robbery

Threatening the bartender with a knife, the intruder took the proceeds from the public catering establishment and fled. For what he committed, he faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to fifteen years with confiscation of property.

On May 2, around 11:00 a.m., hotline 102 received a message from an employee of one of the restaurants located in the central part of Lviv. According to the applicant, an unknown man entered the premises, approached the bar counter, threatened the bartender with a knife, seized the proceeds in the amount of about 5 thousand hryvnias, and then fled.

Detectives of the criminal police and investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, employees of other services and police units of the Lviv Region, as well as patrol police officers were involved in the search and arrest of the perpetrator.

Through the conducted measures, after studying the recordings of the video surveillance cameras of the “Safe Lviv Region” system, the law enforcement officers established the location of the wanted person – on Rynok Square, where he was detained by the officers of the Patrol Police Department.

The detainee was identified as a 42-year-old foreigner who temporarily lives in Lviv.

According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under part 4 of Article 187 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of up to fifteen years with confiscation of property.

The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for him.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
