Yavoriv: a 59-year-old man drowned in a pond

On 7 July, a tragedy occurred in a lake near Yavoriv: a 59-year-old man drowned in the water.

The man’s body was found and removed from the water by the Lviv Central Rescue Diving Service on 8 July at 15:00 and handed over to law enforcement.

Since the beginning of the year, 23 people, including 3 children, have died in water bodies in Lviv region. These figures demonstrate the need to comply with water safety rules.

At the same time, SES units rescued 2 people.

The Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv region once again appeals to citizens and emphasises that while having a rest near water bodies it is prohibited to

– swim in places not designated by local authorities and not equipped for swimming;
– climb warning signs, buoys, tanks;
– jump into the water from boats, boats, bridges, structures not intended for this purpose;
– swim alone;
– drink alcohol before and during bathing;
– allow dangerous games in the water that involve limiting the movement of arms and legs;
– bathing of children without adult supervision.
