“Your grandson is in the hospital, money is urgently needed!” – policemen of Lviv Region warn how not to become a victim of fraudsters

If strangers call you and demand money, allegedly for the treatment of a relative who was involved in a road accident, never tell strangers your home address and do not give them money. Call 102 immediately.

Usually, criminals use a long-known scheme to carry out illegal activities.

An unknown man (or woman) calls the victim (victim) and informs that his (her) relative was involved in a traffic accident, was injured and money is needed for urgent surgery.

In the future, criminals come to the homes of their victims, they hand over money to them, and only later find out that there were no road accidents, they became victims of fraudsters and then turn to the police for help.

In order not to become a victim of scammers, remember – when talking to a stranger, always find out who you are dealing with first. If you have been told any information about your relative, call him/her and find out if it is true. Never give suspicious strangers your home address or give them money.

If you are interested in fraudsters, immediately report it to the police on the hotline 102.

Law enforcement officers urge you to be vigilant and use common sense if you feel danger or find yourself in an unusual situation. Don’t let scammers fool you.
