A road accident occurred today, 30 October, at around 04.10 a.m., on the Lviv-Lutsk motorway near the village of Novyi Stav, Lviv district.
Law enforcement officials have preliminarily established that a Renault Premium truck driven by a 59-year-old resident of a village in Sheptytskyi district collided with a MAN truck driven by a 51-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the MAN was injured and taken to hospital, where he died despite the efforts of doctors.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Regional Police opened a criminal investigation into the incident under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the Road Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
