Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, an indictment was sent to the court against two citizens of Ukraine on the facts of treason, participation in a terrorist organization and the activities of armed groups not provided for by law (Part 1 of Article 111, Part 2 of Article 111, Part 1 of Article 258-3, Part 2 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in February 2022, residents of the Luhansk region voluntarily switched to the side of the enemy and joined the ranks of the illegal armed formation of the so-called “LPR”.
The men served in the rifle regiments of the illegal armed formation “People’s Militia” of the terrorist organization.
The accused provided security at the checkpoints, controlled access and checked the documents of civilians, as well as inspected their cars. In addition, they performed the duties of arranging and strengthening the firing positions of the Russian military for fighting, arranging trenches and building dugouts.
Extras also took part in military operations in the Severodonetsk and Bakhmut districts.
They are currently being held in a Ukrainian penitentiary.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SBU Office in the Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
