Six militants to be tried in Lviv

Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have sent indictments against six Ukrainian citizens to court. They are charged with high treason, participation in a terrorist organization and activities of armed groups not provided for by law (parts 1, 2 of Article 111, part 1 of Article 258-3, part 2 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, as well as a native of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea during the ATO, voluntarily sided with the enemy. They joined the illegal armed groups of the “people’s militia” of the “dpr” and “lpr” terrorist organizations.

The men served in military units that are part of the Russian Armed Forces. They were enlisted as deputy chief of staff of the battalion, deputy battalion commander for logistics, rifleman, radioman, grenade launcher and infantry armored vehicle driver.

The defendants received weapons, ammunition, and ammunition and performed tasks related to the conduct of hostilities against the Ukrainian Armed Forces, both directly and by issuing orders to subordinate servicemen.

They also mastered the tactics of combat, assault, advance, retreat and first aid.

In addition, during the war, the men repaired military equipment, strengthened the firing positions of the Russian Armed Forces for combat, equipped trenches, built dugouts and performed guard duty. Their duties also included guarding the ammunition depot, unloading and loading ammunition.

From the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they fought in the settlements of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions.

The special pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the SBU Office in Lviv region.

Note: According to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
