Under the procedural leadership of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv, an indictment was sent to the court against a psychiatrist of a medical institution in Lviv for the fact of extorting and receiving an unlawful benefit (Part 4 of Article 354 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in the medical facility, the accused demanded and received from her patient, an active serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a bribe of USD 200 for the issuance of a medical certificate, namely a discharge epicrisis.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office together with the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv Region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
