Demanding USD 7,000 of non-existent debt – a group of individuals was notified of suspicion in Turkey

Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, three persons were notified of suspicion of extortion with the threat of violence, according to a prior conspiracy by a group of persons, committed under martial law (Part 4, Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, three residents of the city of Turka, Lviv region, demanded a non-existent debt from a local resident for a long time using threats of physical violence.

The latter had to pay them 7,000 US dollars for fictitious compensation for damage caused as a result of an accident in which the victim was never a participant.

Investigative actions are ongoing, the question of choosing preventive measures for the suspect is being resolved.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine in the Lviv region, based on the materials of the SBU Department in the Lviv region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
