In Lviv, the director of a utility company was sentenced to 7 years behind bars with confiscation of property

According to the principled position of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court of appeal left unchanged the verdict of the court, by which the man was found guilty of extorting and receiving an unlawful benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to 7 years in prison with confiscation of property. Also, the man is deprived of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational and managerial and administrative and economic functions for a period of 3 years.

Prosecutors proved that the director of one of the Lviv communal enterprises received more than 400,000 bribes. He demanded an unlawful benefit for not creating artificial obstacles for the company when cooperating with the LKP.

In particular, he promised that the delivered goods, according to the terms of the contract, would be accepted without any reservations regarding quality, in the pre-agreed quantity and at the agreed time.

In the appellate court, the prosecutor presented convincing arguments for the legality and reasonableness of the sentence, as well as the appropriateness of the prescribed punishment to the severity of the crime committed.

The Lviv Court of Appeal supported the position of the prosecutor’s office, dismissed the defense’s appeal, and left the verdict of the court of first instance unchanged.

The verdict entered into legal force.
