In Lviv, two pseudo-volunteers were exposed for selling cars for the needs of the Armed Forces

Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two Lviv residents were exposed and informed of the suspicion of selling humanitarian aid goods, committed in a significant amount, during martial law (Part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the scheme was organized by a well-known Lviv artist who joined the volunteer movement. Together with an accomplice and through the mediation of drivers who were engaged in the delivery of humanitarian aid for the Armed Forces and the National Guard, the latter systematically imported cars into the territory of Ukraine on preferential terms under the guise of humanitarian aid. The cars were issued to the address of a charity fund for the needs of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

However, instead of free transfer to units of the Armed Forces, they looked for buyers for foreign cars for the purpose of their own enrichment.

The fact of the sale by volunteer entrepreneurs of four cars for the total amount of 20.7 thousand US dollars, which were already paid for and were supposed to be given free of charge as rubber aid to the military, was documented.

In the course of authorized searches, evidence of illegal activity was discovered and seized.

The question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect and imposing an arrest on their property is being resolved. The involvement of other persons in the commission of this crime is established.

The exposé operation was carried out by prosecutors together with investigators of the State Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region, based on the materials of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
