According to the public indictment of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two citizens of Ukraine were found guilty of treason, participation in a terrorist organization, and the activities of armed groups not provided for by law (parts 1, 2 of article 111, part 1 of article 258-3, part 2 of article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
They were sentenced to 15 and 13 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Prosecutors proved in court that the residents of Luhansk region voluntarily switched to the side of the enemy in February 2022 and joined the illegal armed formation of the so-called “LPR”. The accused were serving in the People’s Militia rifle battalion. One of the men performed the duties of a “gunner-radio-telephone operator”, the other – a “sniper”. They also participated in various types of combat and forms of its support.
From the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they fought in the Luhansk and Kharkiv directions.
A special pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SBU Office in the Lviv region.
