In the Stryi district of Lviv region, law enforcement officers detained a 24-year-old man suspected of stealing a safe from someone else’s home. The service dog Eva, a German Shepherd belonging to the police canine services, greatly contributed to the capture of the criminal.
The incident occurred in a village in the Stryi district, where a safe containing a significant amount of money in hryvnias and foreign currency was stolen from a residential building. The owner of the premises immediately reported the incident to the local police, which led to the arrival of an investigative task force at the crime scene.
Having broken into the house through a plastic metal window, the criminal did not realize that his actions would be tracked thanks to the dog. Eva picked up the criminal’s scent and confidently guided the police officers who entered the suspect’s yard. During the search of the man’s residence, the stolen safe, some cash, gloves, and other items indicating his involvement in the crime were found.
He has now been notified of suspicion under the article regarding theft in the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which could result in up to eight years of imprisonment. The investigation is ongoing, and the detainee is awaiting the consideration of his case in custody.
