Two pedestrians were injured in Lviv region over the past day – police are establishing the circumstances

The Lviv regional police call on drivers to strictly follow the traffic rules, not to exceed the speed limit, and to refrain from risky manoeuvres.

Pedestrians are asked to be careful and cautious, cross the road only on pedestrian crossings and on green light, use reflective elements in the dark and in conditions of low visibility. Take care of your life and health!

On 17 November, at around 13.15, on U. Karmalyuk Street in the village of Lapayivka, the driver of a Mitsubishi, a 20-year-old resident of a village in Lviv district, hit a 73-year-old local woman and fled the scene. However, law enforcement officers soon tracked him down. As a result of the accident, the woman was injured and hospitalised.

In addition, at around 10.45pm, on the Mostyska-Sambir-Boryslav road, the driver of a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, a 42-year-old resident of Sambir district, hit a 24-year-old resident of a village in Lviv region. As a result of the accident, the man was injured and taken to a medical facility.

Investigators opened criminal proceedings over the incidents under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of traffic safety rules). The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is up to three years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.

Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
