Both accidents occurred almost simultaneously on 7 October at around 10.30pm. In each case, one person was injured – the passenger of the electric scooter and a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk.
An electric scooter and a Renault Megan driven by a 39-year-old Lviv resident collided on Horodotska Street. As a result of the collision, a 20-year-old resident of Kyiv region, a passenger on the electric scooter, was injured and taken to hospital. The driver of the two-wheeler fled the scene and is now wanted by police.
On Ivan Franko Street, a 25-year-old electric scooter driver, moving along the sidewalk, hit a pedestrian, a 20-year-old resident of Lviv, who was injured and taken to hospital.
Investigators opened criminal proceedings over these facts under Article 291 (Violation of the rules in force on transport) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a fine of two thousand to five thousand tax-free minimum incomes, or correctional labour for up to two years, or restraint of liberty for up to five years, or imprisonment for up to five years.
Pre-trial investigations are underway.
