A land manager was on trial for the illegal privatization of the land of the “Royal Beskydy” National Park

Under the procedural leadership of the Sambir district prosecutor’s office, an indictment was sent to the court against the land surveyor specialist for official negligence that caused serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in September 2021, an employee of one of the village councils of the district approved the documents that became the basis for the transfer of a plot of land to private ownership for farming.

In particular, the land manager improperly performed his duties and did not check the location of these plots. The latter are actually located within the forest fund lands and belong to the nature reserve of the Royal Beskydy National Nature Park. And they are accordingly subject to alienation restrictions.

In this way, land with a total area of 2 hectares was illegally removed from the permanent use of the National Park.

As a result of the official negligence of the accused, losses in the amount of more than 1 million hryvnias were caused to the territorial community.

During the pre-trial investigation, the land plots were returned to state ownership.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the Sambir district police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
