Two Lviv residents to be tried for car arson in Sykhiv district

Prosecutors of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv have sent to court an indictment against two local residents on the fact of intentional destruction of another’s property by arson, which caused damage on a particularly large scale (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that in May this year, in the Sykhiv district of Lviv, the defendants burned several cars.

Late at night, the men came to the yard of an apartment building where the car of a 58-year-old Lviv resident was parked. The defendants had a conflict with the latter. In revenge, the men doused the car with a flammable substance and set it on fire. After making sure the car caught fire, they fled the scene.

The fire later spread to other vehicles parked nearby.

As a result of the arson, 4 cars were damaged and destroyed, causing the victims to suffer losses of around UAH 1.2 million.

To ensure compensation for the damage caused, the property of the accused was seized.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
