A 58-year-old man from Lviv was sentenced to 8 years behind bars for a robbery attack on a military soldier

On public indictment by the prosecutors of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office, the Galicia District Court of the city of Lviv sentenced a 58-year-old man from Lviv to 8 years of imprisonment for committing robbery under martial law (Part 4, Article 187 of the Criminal Code).

Prosecutors proved in court that a man previously convicted of robbery committed a robbery attack on a soldier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the entrance of one of the houses in Lviv.

The convict waited for the victim near his apartment and hit him on the head with his hand, after which he fell down and fainted.

Then the convict took the victim’s backpack, which contained documents and a phone.

The perpetrator was apprehended in a short time. He admitted his guilt at the court hearing.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of LRUP No. 1 of the GU of the NP in the Lviv region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
