Under the procedural leadership of the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office, the pre-trial investigation was completed and an indictment was sent to the court against a 56-year-old man for intentional homicide (Part 1, Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that last November in one of the villages of the Zolochiv district, the accused and a 38-year-old friend were drinking alcoholic beverages.
After a long feast, the friends ran out of alcohol, on the basis of which they started a conflict. During the dispute, the defendant took a kitchen knife and struck the victim numerous times. The latter died at the scene from his injuries.
At the prosecutor’s request, the defendant was remanded in custody.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Zolochiv district police department of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
