Resident of Zolochiv district to spend 3 years behind bars for evading military service

Following a public prosecution by the Zolochiv District Prosecutor’s Office, a 31-year-old resident of the district was found guilty of evading conscription for military service during mobilisation (Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

The prosecutors proved in court that the defendant was found medically fit for military service, as evidenced by the conclusion of the military medical commission. On the same day, he was served with a summons to report to a military unit.

Subsequently, the defendant failed to report to the territorial recruitment and social support centre for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine without a valid reason. Thus, the person liable for military service violated the requirements of the current legislation and evaded military conscription.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Zolochiv District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
