On Thursday, March 9, Lviv will say goodbye to Yuriy Cordoba, who died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul (11 Teatralna St.), at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. The Hero will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical reference of the Hero

Yuriy Cordoba (23.01.1969-17.04.2022). A native of the village of Lubelya, Lviv region.
He studied at the Soposhinsk general secondary education institution of grades I-III. He graduated from the Barnaul Higher Aviation School of Pilots named after Chief Marshal of Aviation Konstantin Andreyovich Vershinin.

In peacetime, he worked as a forwarding driver. He was fond of history, automobile and aircraft construction, as well as weapons. I dreamed of starting my own business related to the latter.

During 2015-2016, he performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation area as part of the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign of the operational command “South” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For his personal courage, he was awarded the badge “Participant of ATO” and the award of the President of Ukraine “For participation in an anti-terrorist operation.”

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo of the “West” operational command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland.

Yuri Cordoba is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
