A Woman in Lviv Region Accused of Helping a Fake Escape Across the Border

In Lviv region, law enforcement officers uncovered the activities of a 45-year-old resident of the city of Cherkasy, who is accused of facilitating her “husband’s” fictitious departure from the country. The woman faces a prison sentence of up to five years.

During the investigation carried out by the detectives from the Yavoriv district in cooperation with the migration police and border guards, it was discovered that the accused, being a person with a II group disability, entered into a fictitious marriage. Her husband, who is of conscription age, tried to avoid mobilization in order to leave the country. On January 21 of this year, an attempt to cross the border into Poland was thwarted due to the work of operatives.

The woman has been notified of suspicion under part 1 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which includes sanctions of three to five years of imprisonment. The investigation is still ongoing; it is currently at the stage of pre-trial proceedings.
