The budget of the Lviv Oblast for 2024: UAH 400 million will be allocated to support the troops

The head of the Lviv OVA, Maksym Kozytsky, presented the regional budget for 2024, and also talked about the basis of spending in 2022-2023.

The main emphasis of the next year will be the financing of assistance to military personnel and their families, as well as the provision of quality medical services, including rehabilitation. At the same time, the volume of the 2024 budget is 40% smaller than the current one.

“The budget in 2023 amounted to more than 10 billion hryvnias. In 2024, the expected resource is 6 billion 168 million UAH. That is, the volume of the budget decreased by almost 40%. This is due to the fact that personal income tax from military units will now go to the state budget and these funds will be directed to the military. In addition, almost all state subventions and subsidies, which were in the past years, will be taken away (from the state road fund, which is no longer there: educational subvention, etc.),” said Maksym Kozytskyi.

72% of the regional budget or UAH 4.4 billion is a resource of protected expenses, which include expenses for energy carriers, salaries and funds for the maintenance of institutions of regional subordination.

“There are absolutely no celebrations, awards, flowers, or gifts in protected expenses. Before us, before the body of deputies, the management of the jointly owned property of the regional council has the task of doing everything possible to ensure that the effectiveness of these funds is checked and that these expenses are correctly directed and understandable for people,” added the head of Lviv Oblast.

Another 1.6 million UAH are funds for the implementation of regional programs. Within this resource, UAH 400 million will be used to finance the “Safe Lviv Region” program, which provides support for the army. In addition, UAH 17 million will finance the support of veterans’ businesses, and UAH 15 million will finance the support of the YeOsel program for military personnel.

“During the last two years, Lviv Oblast, like all of Ukraine, has been waging a hard struggle with the enemy, a bloody, difficult struggle, a struggle for survival. The budget of the region for 2024 fully reflects our main priorities – the maximum for victory, for defenders, their families and vulnerable categories of the population.

Lviv region has always been a reliable rear and next year the situation will not change, we will do everything for victory.

Next year, we will give up all non-priority expenses, give up flowers and souvenirs, contests and awards in various fields. I call on communities of Lviv Oblast to define similar priorities when adopting local budgets. Together to victory!”, Maksym Kozytsky emphasized.
