Estonia was interested in Lviv Oblast’s experience in protecting the civilian population and assisting IDPs in wartime

An Estonian delegation led by Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Hanna Vsevyov is on a working visit to Lviv Oblast.

Today, September 5, representatives of the department of international technical assistance and international cooperation, the department of social protection of the population of Lviv Regional Government and the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lviv met with the Estonian delegation.

Hanna Vsevyov thanked for the opportunity to hold a meeting with the representatives of the Lviv OVA, and also outlined the issues of interest to the Estonian side. In particular, it is the distribution of roles and responsibilities at different stages of the crisis, namely: the state, local self-government and social institutions; social services in crisis and decision-making process, evacuation, etc.

At the beginning of the meeting, the deputy director of the MTD and MS department, Olga Tabaka, thanked the Estonian people and the authorities, represented by Hanna Vsevyov, for the help that Estonia provides to our country in the confrontation with the enemy. She noted that Estonia is a relatively small European country, but allocated almost the most funds for assistance to Ukraine in relation to GDP, and also started the reconstruction of Ukraine. Joint efforts ensured the possibility of crossing the border into EU countries through all available checkpoints on the territory of Lviv region, regardless of their category.

T.v.o. the director of the department of social protection of the population, Roman Andres, informed those present about the establishment of processes between the state authorities of the region, international funds and organizations, which began from the first day of the full-scale war, and about the work of the office of the Coordination Center for the support of the civilian population at LOVA.

We would like to remind you that the Coordination Centers were created on the initiative of the head of the Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi in August 2022 and work throughout the Lviv Region. This made it possible to bring together partners from different levels of the public and non-governmental sectors and build a daily system of assistance. During the year of work, more than 60,000 people received psychosocial support, legal support and other assistance.
