In 2025, communities within the Lviv Agglomeration association will have the opportunity to receive grant support for implementing joint initiatives. This progress was made possible through collaboration with leading European donors.
The first general meeting of the recently established association was held in Lviv, where participants reviewed the year’s achievements and outlined plans for 2025.
According to the association’s executive director, Roman Kizima, metropolitan development is a novel approach in Ukraine. Although 2024 was a year of learning, the initial results have been promising.
Key accomplishments include:
- Hosting the First International Forum with support from the Council of Europe.
- Organizing summer camps for children.
- Holding a craft and local production fair for community businesses.
- Creating a regional atlas and conducting cultural and educational events.
For 2025, the association plans to focus on international grant-funded projects in the following areas:
- Logistics and transport infrastructure development.
- Environmental initiatives.
- Education and healthcare.
- Youth policy.
During the meeting, a new co-chair of the association was elected—Yosyp Fabryha, head of the Velykyi Liubin community. The co-chair position rotates every six months among the leaders of nine communities. The first co-chair was Roman Hrynus, mayor of Bibrka.
It’s worth noting that the Lviv Agglomeration was established in April 2024 and is the second organization of its kind in Ukraine, following Kyiv.
