They want to reform the territory of the Chervonohrad coal microregion and make it attractive for tourists

We present the opinions of representatives of the specialized environment, as well as representatives of the relevant territories.

We also ask ourselves this question in the course of a just transformation. And to answer it, you first need to determine what advantages this region has compared to others. Without claiming to be an expert, we simply present the opinions of representatives of the specialized environment, as well as representatives of the relevant territories, who tried to answer this question.

The tourist potential of the territories includes 7 communities of the Chervonograd district, which are rich in cultural and historical heritage, known for prominent figures of famous Ukrainians, and have recreational potential thanks to the Zahidny Bug and Rata rivers.

“A variety of tourist routes can be created on the territory of the district, for example: the State Historical and Cultural Reserve with a thousand-year history in the town of Belz, churches, temples and the Potocki Palace in Chervonohrad, the Urbani-Potocki Palace in the village of Tartakiv. You can also focus on the national liberation struggle of Ukrainians (Memorial memorial in the burnt village of Ivanka, the hiding place of UPA soldiers in the village of Huta, the memorial complex for victims of Stalinist repressions in the village of Lopatyn) or on sports tourism (kayaking on the Western Bug rivers) and Rata and rowing in kayaks and canoes on the warm canal in the city of Dobrotvir). By the way, for more than a year, together with the communities, we have been developing a strategy for the tourism potential of the Chervonograd coal microregion, combining the “tourist highlights” of several communities,” said Andriy Dyachenko, head of the Chervonograd RVA.

Regarding the topic: Consultations were held in the Lviv region within the framework of the fair transformation process of the Chervonohrad coal microregion.

It is worth mentioning Belz and Velyki Mosty as potential tourist centers. The head of the Belz Territorial Community, Oksana Bereza, noted that the Belz region is a land with an ancient and eventful past, has valuable monuments of archeology, history, architecture and a rich multicultural heritage, interesting for tourists, and not only from Ukraine.

“In addition to ancient buildings, Belzshchyna is picturesque rivers and nature, about which few people know. Until now, it was not possible to fully develop tourism without high-quality infrastructure. The Chervonohrad-Rava-Ruska highway, which passes through almost the entire community, is currently being repaired. This is a big push and the first step towards improving the tourist infrastructure. Our essential advantage is that Belzshchyna is a border community. However, for the further development of tourism in the region, in particular international tourism, there is a need for the establishment of an international checkpoint on the border with Poland. Therefore, we are ready to communicate on this issue, because we are sure that our community can be comfortable and recognizable for tourists,” Oksana Bereza added.

Veliki Mosty, in contrast to other cities, is known for its unique canine training center. In peacetime, group excursions and dog shows were held there. KNC also has its own military museum, which visitors can see during tours.

“Last year, the Veliko Mostiv community signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Vasylkiv commune (Republic of Poland) and this year submitted a joint project to the Interreg Next Poland-Ukraine competition. If the project is successfully implemented, a youth ecological school will appear in Velikie Mosty, which will also be attractive to tourists, as it will be located on the bank of the Rata River next to the forest. There will be bike paths with small architecture, ecological school stations in the form of gazebos. As part of the project, it is planned to purchase bicycles, a mobile collapsible stage, which will be used for various events and festivals, including international ones. Also at the stage of signing an agreement on the construction of a logistics center, where a hotel and a shopping center are planned to be located,” said Yaroslav Royko, the head of the Veliko Mostiv community.

The Rata River flows on the territory of the Veliko Mostov community, along which rafting is carried out by kayaks and annual international rafting events take place. The sports and tourist complex “Under the Oak” operates there, which provides a number of tourist services: kayak rental; sports complex and regular group classes; sauna; sleep in beehives; cafe; camping area. There is also a local history museum on the territory of the complex, the exhibits of which are constantly replenished. This is a ready-made tourist location that few people know about.

Lviv OVA has already started work in this direction, namely on promotion.

“Recently, a video blog “In the lens” was filmed about this city, which has a lot of tourist offers. It is about historical and architectural monuments, intangible heritage, and active tourism. In particular, the Western Bug River is a good platform for the development of water tourism, the opening of new kayaking stations, camping sites and opportunities for the development of small and medium-sized businesses. However, navigation also plays an important role in visitor traffic – car tourist signs, bicycle paths, street markings, these are all things that are currently lacking in Chervonohrad. Of course, on
