The Lviv Regional Employment Service actively directs efforts to organize public, socially useful and other temporary works, so that the unemployed can be involved in labor activities for at least some time and expand the possibility of finding work on a permanent basis, and territorial communities can solve urgent issues of life. Thanks to this, 426 people had a guaranteed legal income in January-June. Of them, 186 clients of the employment service performed temporary or community work, and 240 – socially useful.
Specialists of the Lviv branch of the Lviv Center for the Study of the Environment worked most actively in this regard. In six months, they temporarily employed 158 people who voiced books for people with visual impairments, accompanied people with disabilities, provided the population with rehabilitation services, social or legal assistance, and psychological and career guidance support for those released from prison.
In other branches of the LOCZ, public works on environmental protection, beautification and greening of the territory, cleaning of roadside lanes, cleaning of social objects, recreation and tourism areas, liquidation of unauthorized landfills were organized. In some communities, the unemployed performed work related to the construction and repair of social facilities, in particular educational or sports institutions, cultural or health care institutions, provided assistance to participants in hostilities, veterans and families, members of whose families died , suffered and were negatively affected as a result of the armed conflict, organized the territory near the memorials, monuments, as well as the burial places of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland, etc.
During the performance of socially useful works, the unemployed mainly made camouflage nets for the needs of the army, kept the protective structures of civil defense in readiness for their intended use, were engaged in the equipment of ground or underground premises for the simplest shelters, and also in medical institutions put order in the wards and auxiliary premises , helped wounded servicemen overcome various difficulties to return to a full life. Among those who were involved in performing socially useful works, 59.6% worked to ensure the functioning of the national economy and the population’s livelihood system, and 33.3% worked to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other military formations and civil defense forces.
