The Yavoriv community forms a Strategy with the support of the Lviv OVA and USAID “HOVERLA”

A meeting of the Working Group on the Development Strategy of the Yavoriv City Territorial Community for the period until 2027 was held. It was attended by managers and experts, representatives of business and the public.

During the meeting, they presented the socio-economic profile of the Yavoriv community, discussed the state and development prospects, the consequences of wartime, and the community’s ability to attract resources. The results of the population and business survey, which was conducted from October 14, 2022 to February 14, 2023, were also summarized.

During the meeting, the participants analyzed the community’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats.

Among the strong points, significant logistics and transit potential were singled out due to the border location, the presence of the M-10 Lviv-Krakowets highway, which coincides with part of the European road route E40 and is part of two international transport corridors (No. 3 and No. 9). It is the only community on the western border of Ukraine that has 2 active international road crossing points: “Krakivets – Korchova” (the largest on the western border of Ukraine) and “Hrushiv – Budomezh”.

Yavorivska is the largest community in the region by area (841.3 km2, 83.6 thousand hectares), which has significant land, forest resources, and mineral deposits (in particular, oil and gas).

The investment attractiveness of the community is strengthened by the presence of the registered Yavoriv industrial park with an area of 40 hectares 5 km from the customs crossing “Grushiv – Budomezh”, there are also plans to create an industrial park with an area of 61.3 hectares between the villages of Stariy Yar and Koty.

A variety of opportunities for recreation and relaxation are created by the existing nature reserve territories of the International Biosphere Reserve “Roztochchia”, which belongs to the Emerald Network of Ukraine (6.2 thousand hectares), Yavorivskyi quarry (“Yavorivske Sea”) – the deepest in Ukraine (up to 70 m) and an artificial lake with a volume of water (over 200 million m³), a sanatorium, the medical base of which includes balneological rehabilitation and springs.

All these strengths will be reflected in the selected strategic, operational goals and tasks of the community for the period up to 2027, which were worked on in sectoral subgroups.

“I am sure that the community will correctly use its huge potential and will be able to form strategic projects that should be implemented in the next three years,” – emphasized the deputy director of the economic policy department of the Lviv OVA, Vadym Tabakera.

We will remind you that the Yavoriv community is one of the 4 that, at the request of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, was additionally chosen by the USAID “Hoverla” Project to provide expert support during the development of development strategies.
