By the order of NPC Ukrenergo, the volume of power outages in Lviv and the region has increased today – four rounds of outages will be applied from 14:00 to 24:00.
This was reported by Lvivoblenergo.
The updated schedule for the day can be found in the photo below:
Today, 12 July, regional power distribution companies are applying consumption restrictions throughout the day. From 14:00 to 24:00, four stages of hourly outage schedules will be used to compensate for the energy shortage in the system, and three stages will be used at other times.
We remind you that consumers in each region that are not included in the list of critical infrastructure facilities are divided into 6 queues (groups). The application of restrictions to three queues means that half of the consumers in each region are subject to hourly outage schedules. Four queues are limited to 70% of consumers in each region. For information on the schedules of outages in each region, please visit the websites of regional power distribution companies or their social media pages.
Electricity consumption in the country is at its highest level for the summer period. The reason is an abnormal heat wave in Ukraine and Europe with a significant energy shortage in the Ukrainian power grid as a result of Russian massive strikes. Since the beginning of the year, the Russians have carried out 8 massive attacks on the power grid. As a result, the country has lost 9 GW of production capacity at Ukrainian power plants. This capacity is equal to the summer peak-hour consumption of such European countries as the Netherlands, Finland, or Slovakia and the Baltic States together.
The temperature across the country exceeds +33 C. According to the forecast of Ukrenergo’s Dispatch Centre, today’s peak consumption will remain high and significantly exceed the available capacity in the system to cover it.
