Maksym Kozytskyi met with the president of the Polish railway company PKP LHS Zbigniew Tracyhleb

During the meeting, the development of cross-border railway connection between Lviv Region and Poland was discussed.

The day before, on February 9, a meeting with representatives of the Polish railway company PKP LHS took place in Lviv OVA. The head of the Lviv OVA, Maksym Kozytskyi, thanked the Polish side for the unceasing help, and also emphasized that the Lviv region is ready to actively cooperate in the future to improve railway connections between the countries. In particular, it is about the implementation of the Warsaw-Lviv Eurorail project.

“I am glad that Ukraine and Poland have learned to work in synergy, respond to all requests and improve relations through joint initiatives. I would like to draw attention to the urgency of restoring the European track on the Khrebenne – Rava-Ruska section. This makes it possible to continue the implementation of the large-scale Eurorail project “Warsaw – Lviv”. In 2022, the Ukrainian side implemented its first stage – restored part of the European-style track with a length of 8 km on the Rava-Ruska – Hrebenne section, partially repaired the station, placed customs and border control points and opened an international sales office. This year, we are waiting for the active actions of the Polish side,” Maksym Kozytsky emphasized.

The initiative was implemented with funds from the regional branch of “Lviv railway” JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” and local budgets. The cost of the works is 63 million hryvnias, 4 million of which are funds from local budgets. In 2023, Lviv OVA plans to implement the second stage of the project in order to improve passenger transportation at the border crossing and relieve traffic checkpoints.

According to the president of the Polish railway company PKP LHS Zbigniew Tracyhleb, Polish partners are actively working to improve cooperation. However, there is not enough rolling stock to implement the initiative.

For his part, the head of the Lviv OVA thanked Zbigniew Tratsikhleb, the PKP LHP company and, in his person, all Polish citizens for their active support of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war, in particular, for the humanitarian aid that is constantly delivered to people in need.
