The largest domestic manufacturer of bulletproof vests has started mass production of bulletproof vests for medics
The Lviv Defense Cluster (LOK) handed over a batch of specialized medical body armor to the doctors of Okhmatdyt.
Body armor will be used to evacuate seriously ill children from frontline areas.
To date, more than 500 medical bulletproof vests have already been manufactured by LOK enterprises. The first of them are already protecting the doctors of Donetsk region and Kharkiv region, and in the coming days they will also be transferred to Zaporizhzhya, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. In total, it is planned to manufacture 3,000 medical body armor in the near future. All of them will be given free of charge to medics working in the war zone and frontline areas.
Anti-fragile body armor for medics was developed by the Lviv Defense Cluster and the Kharkiv Personal Protective Equipment Plant together with emergency medics. The products are fully certified and passed all necessary tests.
According to statistics, the main type of threat to ambulance medics working on the front line is broken glass, concrete, and projectiles. Therefore, the medical bulletproof vest from LOK is made reliable for protection primarily from these threats: it is characterized by an anti-shatter resistance of at least 500 meters per second, has 1 class of protection according to Ukrainian standards (DSTU 8782:2018), and also meets the defined NATO standards.
The bulletproof vest is made of ultra-high molecular weight ballistic polyethylene, which makes it not only strong, but also quite light: it weighs only 4 kg. The vest also has convenient pockets for equipment and bright identification signs of the medical service.
