As of January 1, 2023, 5,100 unemployed people were looking for work through the Lviv Regional Employment Service, of which 75% were women, 40% were rural residents.
By professional group, among the clients of the employment service, the largest share was made up of former employees of trade and services (18%), as well as leaders and managers (14%). Another 13% belonged to specialists, 12% to workers in maintenance, operation and control of the operation of equipment and machines, and the same number to qualified workers with tools.
In terms of reasons for unemployment, the majority (53%) were unemployed, who were dismissed by agreement of the parties (Article 36, Clause 1 of the Labor Code) and applied for employment assistance within one year after termination of employment. Another 12% of residents of the region became unemployed due to voluntary dismissal, 10% were those whose contracts expired, 8% were dismissed from enterprises, institutions and organizations. And only 2% of the unemployed are yesterday’s graduates of educational institutions.
Among the registered unemployed, 32% are persons of the age category “50+”. There are five percent fewer (27%) job seekers aged 40-49, 28% – aged 30-39. The rest were young people under the age of 29.
The majority (56%) of the unemployed are persons with higher education, 32% with vocational and technical education. And 12% of clients of the employment service were limited in employment opportunities due to having only secondary education, lack of necessary professional skills and abilities, as well as work experience.
