A postage stamp dedicated to Taras Shevchenko was canceled in the Lviv region

The stamp will have a limited edition.

On March 9, the Lviv branch of “Ukrposhta” held a ceremonial special redemption of a postage stamp dedicated to the outstanding Ukrainian poet, novelist, playwright, artist, public figure, National Hero and symbol of Ukraine Taras Shevchenko. Mark was redeemed on the 209th anniversary of his birth.

“There is a whole Alley in Cambridge named after Taras Shevchenko, and all Ukrainians are proud of it. I want us to have as many people as possible who are proud of and admire abroad, who are recognized. It is equally important for us to always remember our Heroes. Taras Shevchenko loved Ukraine very much and I hope that there will be more and more people in Ukraine who love it, want to live here and develop it. Thank you to everyone who supports the ideas thanks to which we remember the Heroes of Ukraine and outstanding figures known all over the world,” said Oleksandr Kulepin, Deputy Chairman for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization (CDTO) of Lviv OVA.

The stamp dedicated to Taras Shevchenko is the second in the “Glory to Ukraine” series, the first was dedicated to Stepan Bandera. The series tells about the ancient and modern Heroes of Ukraine and aims to better acquaint people from different parts of the world with them.

“Taras Shevchenko is for us a symbolic figure, a spiritual leader, and now, in the difficult time of the war, we must remember his instructions. We must pass on from generation to generation the information he left us so that we are strong, independent and live in a free state. Today we are going through terrible times, our brothers and sisters are dying every day, and this once again calls us to unity. It is a great honor for us to leave such a small mark, repaying this stamp in honor of our spiritual leader, our father – Taras Shevchenko,” said international public figure and author of the idea Yuriy Kotyk.

“We know from history that the Soviet government distorted the figure of our Prophet, the Giant of the Spirit. But today we have a unique opportunity to convey to future generations the truth about Taras, that he is an intellectual, a true Ukrainian, a highly spiritual and cultured person. And may this brand today help future generations remember Taras, his prophetic words, Taras, who always said that the truth is above all else. And today it is worth quoting his words “Fight – win! God helps you!”, emphasized Taras Mikhalchuk, head of the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and head of the Military Chaplaincy Center of the Lviv Archdiocese of the UGCC.

As Yevhen Savchuk, director of the Lviv directorate of JSC “Ukrposhta” added, today’s redemption of the stamp is not only a memory of an outstanding Ukrainian, but should encourage people more with his creativity.

The stamp will have a limited edition. Its main purpose is to thank international partners, foundations and the diaspora for the help they provide to Ukraine in the fight against the Russian invaders and popularize Ukrainian Heroes.
