In Lviv Oblast, 12 communities have already declared their readiness to create inpatient care centers for the elderly and people with disabilities

This will provide more than 400 people with decent living conditions and high-quality social support services.

According to Maksym Kozytskyi, the head of the Lviv OVA, the Lviv region is working on launching a pilot project of social services to support the most vulnerable categories of the population. We are talking about both forcibly displaced persons and the local population.

“How do we see this project? Communities recommend the premises they have left over after medical or educational reform. Stationary centers will be created on their base, which will be subdivisions of territorial social service centers or social service provision centers. Approximately 20-30 people will live in them. In addition to the renovation of the premises, the future employees of the centers will be trained in the correct approaches to the elderly and people with disabilities. It is important for us that international partners support such a community initiative, in particular by covering the cost of communal services. Communities can encourage partnerships between business patrons and religious communities. This social service must be legally registered in the community and, after launch, develop and work independently.

International partners and everyone who sees themselves in this project can participate in the creation of such centers. Registration form: https://bit.ly/3Mv6fLj

The project of providing social services to support the elderly and people with disabilities is implemented within the framework of the Medical and Psychosocial Assistance of Lviv Oblast and under the patronage of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

The process is coordinated by the working group of Advisory and Coordination Centers, which, on the initiative of Lviv OVA, helps people in need in every district of our region. If you have any questions, contact my advisor Halyna Bordun,” Maksym Kozytskyi said.
