Transformation of Ukraine’s Coal Regions: Collaboration with Germany

Ukraine and Germany’s Cooperation for the Development of Coal Regions

The head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, met with a representative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), Cyriac Massue.

Discussion on Just Transition Projects

According to the region’s leader, they discussed important issues concerning the implementation of just transition projects in coal communities. Specifically, this involves the initiative ‘Just Transition of Coal Regions and Green Recovery of Ukraine’s Energy Sector.’

‘Lviv region is the first in Ukraine to develop an Action Plan for the Just Transition of the Coal Microregion by 2030. The document outlines the implementation of 47 projects worth over 10 billion UAH. To make these initiatives a reality, we are informing German partners about the potential of Ukraine’s coal territories. This will attract more investments, speed up the regional transformation, and provide people with stable and well-paid jobs,’ emphasized Maksym Kozytskyi.
