Новий прихисток для постраждалих від домашнього насильства поблизу Львова буде готовий до літа

The estimate of the project is almost 12 million hryvnias. The Lviv District Military Administration informs about this.

In particular, the head of the Lviv RVA, Hrystyna Zamula, together with a representative of the American charity fund “Scientia Ukraine”, which finances the project, as well as contractors and community managers, checked the state of work at the facility.

A new shelter for victims of domestic violence, human trafficking or gender-based violence will be created in one of the communities near Lviv. Currently, the renovation of a one-story building is underway here, where up to 22 people can temporarily live in seven small rooms with their own bathrooms.

“The estimate of the project is almost 12 million hryvnias. The American charitable foundation “Scientia Ukraine”, with which the Lviv District Military Administration signed a memorandum of cooperation in the fall of 2022, is financing the reconstruction and arrangement of the new safe space. Currently, new windows have already been installed here, the screed has been poured, and the redevelopment of the space is completed. The space should be inclusive, and one of the rooms is specially equipped for people with disabilities,” said Khrystyna Zamula.

In addition to repair work, the house is planned to be fully furnished and the surrounding area to be landscaped.

The repair is planned to be completed by the end of May this year.

There are currently up to 7 larger or smaller shelters for persons who have suffered from domestic violence, human trafficking or gender-based violence in the Lviv region. Such temporary accommodations were created in four districts of the region. Some of them are communal institutions of communities or subordinate to the regional administration. Most are created and financed by patrons, international organizations and donors. There is a lack of such institutions in the Yavoriv, Sambir and Zolochiv districts.

Also, the head of the Lviv RVA emphasized that the project of creating a shelter is not limited only to its space. Currently, the administration team also contributes to the implementation of the “Love Doesn’t Fight” project, which involves a broad information campaign to prevent domestic violence.

In particular, it is about close cooperation and training of social workers in communities, educational work with the population, informing about opportunities to escape from the cycle of violence, to get psychological and legal help, to find support, in particular, in such shelters.
