This is already the doctor’s 11th visit to the medical facility.
During the days of stay at the Lviv Regional Children’s Hospital “Okhmatdyta”, plastic surgeon Klaus Exner from Germany and ophthalmologists of the medical institution performed 12 surgical interventions
Operations were performed for children from all over Ukraine who had a congenital defect – ptosis of the eyelids. All interventions were successful. The children have already been discharged home.
“Children need help all the time, especially now, in such a difficult time. Cooperation with the doctors of “Okhmatdyt” is very useful, we examine children together. Very good doctors here,” said Klaus Exner.
“Klaus Exner performs these operations according to his method – suspending the upper eyelid to the forehead muscle. Or chooses other methods, taking into account the child’s situation. It is also a medical and collegial learning for us. This is an interesting collaboration. Further, we observe and manage such children in the postoperative period”, – noted ophthalmologist Andriana Pater.
Now the children are awaiting recovery, post-operative support and consultative examinations by ophthalmologists.
“It is very good that there is an opportunity to operate on the children of Ukraine with a specialist in this matter – Klaus Exner, who has performed many such interventions. Therefore, we adopt experience and various methods from him,” said the head of the ophthalmology department Natalya Gudyma.
