The rescuers of the Lviv region received equipment from the Republic of Austria

The cars will help rescue people in case of fires, and they will also be used by sapper units in the frontline areas.

Today, October 30, the transfer of humanitarian aid from the Government of the Republic of Austria and the City Hall of Vienna for the needs of the Emergency Situations of Ukraine took place. Benefactors handed over 4 cars, including 2 passenger cars, a fire truck and a truck ladder.

“There are many connections between Ukraine and Austria, especially between Vienna and Lviv. During these 20 months of full-scale war, Austria transferred a lot of aid to Ukraine. I want to express my respect to the Ukrainian people, as well as to all those who take part in the struggle. We are glad to have the opportunity to join this fight and in this way help save as many lives as possible,” said Austrian Ambassador to Ukraine Arad Benkö.

“I am very grateful to the State Emergency Service. Even here, in Lviv, we see their important work every day. We had to fly over civilian objects and thanks to the courage and professionalism of the representatives of the service, we primarily saved the most precious thing – saved lives. Thanks to the Austrian government and the municipality of Vienna for this help. This is a huge support for us,” said the head of the region Maksym Kozytskyi.

The equipment handed over today will help rescue people in the event of fires at high-rise buildings in Lviv, and it will also be used by sapper units in the frontline regions.

By the way, rescuers-sappers of Lviv Oblast are currently serving in Kherson Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast and Zaporizhzhia.

As Andrii Danyk, Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, said, Austria is not the first to provide aid to Ukrainian rescuers.

“Austria gave us a lot of equipment and equipment. For example, in the first days of a full-scale invasion – a large number of ballistic helmets, which actually covered the first need of our sappers. And there are also hundreds of cars, dozens of watercraft, etc.,” he said.
