Tourist routes in Lviv Oblast received “Royal Beskydy” and “Picturesque Roztochchia”

We are talking about the “Na Verkh” and “Picturesque Roztochchia” hiking trails.

A meeting of the commission on the network of active tourism routes was held in Lviv OVA. The organizer is the Department of Tourism and Resorts of LOVA.

“I am glad that despite the war in the region there are initiatives to develop tourist routes. We are very interested in their implementation and try to support in every possible way. I am convinced that the projects of tourist routes discussed during the meeting will be introduced in the near future and will be popular among visitors,” said Taras Lozynskyi, Deputy Head of the Department of Tourism and Resorts.

The 3.8 km long “Na Verkh” pedestrian path, the applicant of which is the “Royal Beskydy” NPP, received number 5018. The route will start from the bus stop in the village of Strilbychi, then the “Ruban” tract, the next point – wind installations of the Starosambir wind farm. Further, the path leads to the town of Ostrohirka, where there is a joint mass grave of the soldiers of the First World War, in which the dead from both sides are buried. The end of the journey is the town of Verkh with an observation deck where, in clear weather, a unique view of the city of Stary Sambir, Sambir and other nearby settlements opens up. In addition, the height difference allows you to observe the operation of windmills. While on the observation deck, the tourist is above the windmill itself.

In order to attract more tourists to this route, experts recommend starting it from Stary Sambor. So the route can still be changed.

Number 4904 received the pedestrian path “Picturesque Roztochchia” with a length of 6 km. Representatives of the Domazhyr Bear Shelter, who are trying to expand the offers for their visitors, were concerned about his appearance. The route of the ecological trail was developed next to this location.

“Interesting floral combinations grow here. For example, the unique growth of beech and periwinkle, which is listed in the Green Book of Ukraine. It is also a place where three types of trees grow: oak, pine and beech, which grow only in the Crimea and Roztochka. The most interesting and unique objects on the way are rock outcrops and beech “giants” of Roztochcha,” Maria Glova, a representative of the Domazhyr bear shelter, said during the presentation.

During the meeting, the participants considered the concept of a network of bicycle paths and infrastructure within the Lviv agglomeration. In particular, it was about EuroVelo.

“For me, EuroVelo is a marker route. If it is built, many foreign bicycle tourists will come to us. There is a demand for a bicycle in Lviv, but it can be said that it is widely known in narrow circles. If there will be a concentrated number of people on bicycles coming here, accordingly, it will be a demand that will form a corresponding offer,” said Ihor Mohyla, an expert of the Council of Europe on writing a strategy for the Lviv agglomeration.

It should be added that the issue of the thread of the EuroVelo route in Ukraine is open and requires coordination. Therefore, the participants of the meeting decided to meet again in the near future.
