During the meeting in Lviv OVA, they discussed financing mechanisms operating in the European Union and ways of their implementation.
Today, July 4, the head of Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi met with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Regional Policy of the Republic of Poland, Deputy Minister Malgojata Jarosinska-Jedynak.
The head of the Lviv OVA thanked the state secretary for the support and help from the Polish people to Ukraine in the Russo-Ukrainian war – he emphasized that this is a sign of Europe’s international power.
“It is important for us to establish close relations with the financial institutions of Poland, which has already gone through the path of joining the EU and all the necessary processes for this, you have the experience that we really need now.
We strive to acquire knowledge of how the budget system works according to EU standards, to master basic budget matters within the framework of the experience of the member states of the European community and move in the direction of their unification, to understand the peculiarities of budgeting,” said the head of Lviv Oblast.
Malgozhata Yarosinska-Jedynak emphasized that it is important to cooperate right now, at the stage of Ukraine’s preparation for joining the EU, and Poland is ready to provide all necessary support.
“Poland is the biggest beneficiary of EU funds and we know how to implement them correctly. We understand how important joining the EU is to you, and we know how difficult the first steps are. We always emphasize at EU events that Ukraine should become a member of the European family and has the right to do so. We feel a mission to help, support, show the road map so that you can avoid our mistakes. We believe and cheer for Ukraine’s victory in the war and its accession to the EU,” said Ms. Yarosinska-Jedynak.
During the meeting, she also outlined the financing mechanisms operating in the European Union and the methods of their implementation.
Maksym Kozytskyi also added that Lviv Oblast is interested in further cooperation within the framework of the European Union Interreg (Poland – Ukraine) program, which unites Ukrainian and Polish organizations in joint project activities.
“For us, this is an important opportunity to receive additional funding, and for communities to show initiative and receive a reward for it, to learn to be active and cooperate with each other,” Maksym Kozytskyi emphasized.
It should be noted that during the 2014-2020 program period, 53 projects with a total estimated cost of about 60 million euros are being implemented, which makes Lviv Oblast the largest beneficiary of the Program among the regions of Ukraine. In connection with the COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, about 25 projects have been extended until the end of 2023. One of the projects of the program is “Creation of a system of rapid response to events and crimes in the city of Lviv”, which will significantly affect the safety of citizens and the efficiency of law enforcement agencies. Currently, joint preparation of projects is underway between Polish and Ukrainian partners within the framework of the First competitive selection of the Interreg NEXT Program “Poland – Ukraine 2021-2027”, which concerns the priorities “Environment” and “Health Care”. It should be added that Lviv Oblast is the first region in Ukraine that implemented the mechanism of co-financing cross-border cooperation projects from the regional budget.
