Aquaculture producers of Lviv Oblast will be able to receive up to USD 25,000 in grant support from FAO

On January 24, a seminar on grant support for micro and small producers of aquaculture products was held.

The seminar was held within the framework of the FAO project “Comprehensive, competitive and economically rational creation of chains of added value in agriculture, fisheries and forestry”.

During the event, the participants familiarized themselves with the conditions of the grant support program, applications for which will begin in the near future. In addition, FAO experts spoke about the peculiarities of preparing business plans and provided practical recommendations for filling out applications and application forms through the State Agrarian Register.

Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Holovnya addressed the participants of the event with a welcome speech.

“FAO always, and especially during the war, promotes the development of small and medium-sized businesses. The support of these categories of producers is extremely important, because they ensure the stable development of regional production,” he noted.

Vitaly Holovnya also expressed hope for the future expansion of the geography of this project to other regions, which is relevant in the context of post-war reconstruction.

The head of the permanent commission on the activities of the agro-industrial complex, entrepreneurship and investments of the regional council, Yuriy Radelytskyi, called on producers to actively participate in grant programs in order to attract additional financial resources.

“The opportunity to attract funds under the FAO project is appropriate for our producers, especially now, in connection with the suspension of state programs, as the state is directing all efforts to win at the front as soon as possible,” he emphasized.

In addition, he emphasized the importance of the development of the fish farming industry and increasing the consumption of fish and fish products.

“The project covers those industries related to the domestic market, where competitiveness is determined by competition with imports, therefore, first of all, I thank FAO for drawing attention to the fishery industry. After all, in this segment, the competition with imported products is most keenly felt”, – noted the director of the department of agro-industrial development of the regional state administration, Tetyana Hetman.

She urged manufacturers to carefully approach the preparation of business plans. In addition, Tetyana Hetman reminded producers of the possibility of attracting funds through the Comprehensive Program for the Support and Development of Agriculture in the Lviv Region for 2021-2025, for which UAH 34.2 million has been allocated from the regional budget in 2023. and the implementation of which has already begun.
