In the first two months of the year, the receipts of the environmental tax in the Lviv region exceeded the planned

Thanks to the timely and full payment of the environmental tax, which in its essence is compensation by enterprises for pollution caused by their activities, it was possible to ensure that planned revenues were exceeded in January-February 2023.

The Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Oblast reported this.

“For the period from January to February 2023, the polluting enterprises of Lviv Oblast paid environmental tax in the amount of 32.9 million hryvnias, of which 9.8 million hryvnias were transferred to the special fund of the regional budget – the regional environmental protection fund, which is 177, 8% of the expected amount of revenues. These funds will be directed to the implementation of nature protection and resource conservation measures related to environmental protection, prevention, reduction and elimination of environmental pollution,” the department said.

Environmental tax is a state-wide mandatory payment that is based on the actual volumes of emissions into the atmosphere, discharges of pollutants into water bodies, disposal of waste, the actual volume of radioactive waste temporarily stored by their producers, the actual volume of radioactive waste generated and of the actual volume of radioactive waste accumulated by April 1, 2009.
