Over the weekend, 126 truck drivers were fined in Lviv for violating the ban on entering the city during an abnormal heat wave
On 13-14 July, 126 drivers were fined in Lviv for entering the city despite the restrictions on heavy vehicles due to abnormally high temperatures. The Lviv City Hall emphasises that such restrictions are particularly important to prevent damage to the road surface in the heatwave that has been in place for the past week.
Truck drivers are reminded that the restriction is valid from 10:00 to 20:00. During these hours, large vehicles must go to the parking areas when entering the city and resume driving after 20:00. This applies to heavy vehicles weighing more than 24 tonnes and with an axle load of more than 7 tonnes.
According to the Patrol Police Department, such restrictions are stipulated by the requirements of the current legislation.
Therefore, drivers of large vehicles are urged to take into account the restrictions and not enter the city during these hours. And transport logistics companies are encouraged to use smaller vehicles for deliveries in the city.
At the same time, the restrictions do not apply to vehicles transporting dangerous, perishable goods, live animals and poultry. They also do not apply to transport related to the prevention or elimination of the consequences of emergencies, etc.
