7 tips from doctors to help you survive the heat safely

The sun is good for humans only within reasonable limits. And given the abnormal weather, it is worth following the advice of doctors regarding sun exposure – wear light, light clothes and drink plenty of water. As for water, there are 12 drinking fountains in Lviv that everyone can use.

Tips from doctors to help you survive the heat safely:

– If possible, avoid exposure to the sun from 11:00 to 16:00, look for shade, or use an umbrella;

– Do not leave children and animals in the car. If the temperature outside is 30°C and above, the temperature in a car parked in the sun will reach 40°C in 10 minutes and 53°C in an hour;

– Drink plenty of water if you have no contraindications. If you do not feel thirsty, drink water in small portions. Consult your family doctor about the amount of water you can drink if you have any health contraindications;

– Do not drink alcohol and liquids containing a lot of sugar and caffeine (sweet fizzy drinks, coffee), as this leads to the loss of more fluid;

– Wear sunscreen – the most effective protection comes from products labelled “broad spectrum” or “UVA/UVB protection” with SPF 30 or more on the label.

– Be especially careful when sunbathing near water;

– Wear a hat – a wide-brimmed hat is best to shade your neck, ears and face. Wear light, loose and light clothing, with long sleeves if possible. Do not forget sunglasses with UVA and UVB protection;
