Alley of Heroes of Ukraine in Lviv region restored with new trees

This linden alley has become the largest in our country, recorded in the Ukrainian Book of Records.

In March, the largest Alley of Heroes of Ukraine in Ukraine was planted in Zhovkva district. The event was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the National Forestry University of Ukraine and the International Day of Forests.

The linden alley was planted along the P84 road Bibrka – Kamianka-Buzka – Zhovkva – Horodok – Mykolaiv – Zhydachiv – Kalush – Burshtyn on the section from Zibolky village to Zhovkva town, which has a total length of 17.5 km on both sides of the road and consists of 1750 trees.

Unfortunately, due to the very warm summer and low rainfall, some of the trees in the alley did not take root.

In November, the foresters of the OCS HCF “Halsillis” and the branch “Lviv Forestry” of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” together with teachers and students of the National Forestry University, employees of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration carried out the replanting of trees in the alley, where the previous seedlings had died.

All the linden saplings needed to restore the alley were provided free of charge by the Lviv Forestry branch of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” and the Galsillis forestry company.

“The planted trees are only getting stronger and need our support, so we also received the support of the local population, the Lviv Oblast Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service, the police and local authorities to work together with foresters and educators to protect the greenery that will protect us from the heat in summer and protect the road from snow drifts in winter,” said Andriy Senyuk, Head of the Natural Resources Protection Division of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Oblast State Administration.
